Love is blue

BLUE beauty-graphicsfairy009Color is a powerful element on my periodic table. Color is evocative. I have devoted much of this lifetime studying color, immersing myself in beautiful colors, surrounding myself with the colors that make me happy.

BLUElina blue vintagegraphicsfairyIf you would learn about color, begin with discovering your personal favorites. I am not speaking in general terms, although it is a good start to say, for instance, “I love blue.” Don’t stop there however.

BLUE-beautifulface-graphicsfairyDelve into a study of blues. All kinds of blue. Which ones do you like best? Warm aqua-blue? Soft and serene robin’s egg blue?

BLUEmermaid-graphicsfairy004Bold and graphic majolica blue? Deep ocean blues? Blue has so many faces, each with a different personality that creates a mood.

Do you like to wear your favorite color or is it an accent that you like around you? I notice that many of my color favorites are colors that I like to wear in clothing and jewelry.

By delving into a study of your favorite colors, you are learning about yourself. I can’t say what it is that you will discover, and it may not be immediately evident to you. It is neither good nor bad. It is what it is. Allow yourself to find out in your own time. It might be that your color favorites give you a sense of calming, cheer, spice, energy, boldness, or nostalgia. Like a sprinkling of fairy dust, color effects mood and outlook.

BLUE brideI cherish my special colors. Imagine a landscape devoid of your colors! A world without them! Colors are one of our precious gifts.

So collect them,

wear them,

paint them,

create with them,

give them,

keep them!

  1. I love blue! almost all of them, but especially the gray blues, both light and dark.; Thanks for sharing those neat pics and your thoughts too.

  2. Thanks for the lovely pictures. What does it say about me that I like primitive shades of most colors? Give me a pallet of French General and I am pleased!

  3. I’m so enjoying following you here. Love your posts and insights you have. And like you I love blue…Love your designs and colors you use. Thanks so much for sharing so much of yourself with us.

  4. A little late here. Would you ever consider “Spring is Here” for a (larger) punch needle pattern? It’s so lovely. My studio/work room is robin’s egg blue with a hint of orange accents. Thanks for the inspiring post.

    • i will put that idea in the hopper, thank you. i love your color combination for your studio. isn’t it funny — i have been increasingly attracted to different shades of orange in the last few years. a color that i had shunned for many years, silly me! thanks for your comment.

  5. There is no doubt that colors have their energy. Recently I found out that my synesthesia paintings emanate energy. Because of synesthesia I see colors when I hear names and words. Since years I paint what I see, I paint names and inspirational words. Recently people were telling me that they feel an energy flow coming from my paintings. They even recognize themselves in the paintings. This is so fascinating.
