I wanted to share with you the crochet purse that I was working on a few posts back. I am so happy with how it came out, it surprised me. I came up with an idea for finishing it which raised it from being a humble bag to a special one. And to celebrate the completion of a project, I bought some new yarn to help plan another. I love getting packages in the mail! Especially when they are fiber!

I find that it is important to me to be surrounded by the colors I love. It makes me feel more creative, more cozy, more grounded.

Basking in the afterglow of a fiber festival

I did not leave the Black Sheep Gathering last weekend empty-handed. The festival only comes around once a year and it is the best opportunity I have to get wonderful unique fiber. So I plan to find something special to keep me busy until the next Black Sheep Gathering. I was really inspired by the colorplay of Miryha Runnerstrom’s 2-ply yarn.

Black Sheep Gathering is a fiberfest extraordinare!

Here in Eugene, Oregon we are lucky enough to have the premier fiber festival called The Black Sheep Gathering. Folks from far and wide come out to show their animals, sell their wares, take classes, demonstrate a facet of fiber worldom, have their fiber creation judged…. or buy stuff! I fall into the last category (if you didn’t guess by now). Oh, I forgot to mention that lots of us show up with our spinning wheels or knitting projects and just hang out and create. I also fall in that category.

I have been knitting two socks on two circular needles in a cotton blend singles yarn. At the end of this post, I have listed two online tutorials that I found for learning the details of this method.
